“You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give” -Winston Churchill |
HAAM places a high value on its volunteers, who have a wide range of workplace experiences which are effectively utilized in helping HAAM to fulfill its mission. Volunteers possess knowledge and understanding of the greater community of people, churches, businesses, schools, and other resources. In 2007, over 2800 individuals volunteer at HAAM. When you come in for your initial visit you will be given a tour of the facilities and presented with an opportunity to observe volunteers in action. Activities range from interviewing clients to determine their family needs to one-time assistance with sorting and distributing school supplies during “Back to School”.
In your initial interview, you will have an opportunity to talk about your volunteering interests and goals. Be prepared to discuss your experience and qualifications. This is your chance to let us know schedule availability. It is our sincere desire that all of our volunteers will feel that they are contributing to the mission of HAAM.
Once your position is determined, you will receive in-house training. When you are on your own youwill always have a staff member to turn to with questions or guidance. HAAM values the “Team”effort that exists throughout. Are you ready NOW?Come and join us for a Volunteer Information Tour every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Please call the HAAM office to RSVP at 281-446-3663 x120.If you are unable to attend orientation due to work or school schedule please take a look at our Volunteer Information Guide that is filled with great volunteer information.
